Past the Objects 2
2009, ink and acrylic on washi; 16 x 62 inches
Make a break from your objects and dive
down past the lover, your possessions,
your attachments, your mother
all that tantalizing beauty
and terror rising up to fascinate,
appearing to meet you out of the depths,
seeming to be the end, your goal,
your realization.
No matter what, hold to your diving
down, through and past beliefs,
self-improvements, your healings
and states of mind, fantasies, memories,
the gems you've been polishing for years.
Leave your glowing translucent
imagination in the wake of your dive
then recharge yourself
into a deeper plunge.
Desire the dive and then pass that.
Feel the water madly rushing past,
the spectacular pulse pounding,
the energy of bone, muscle sinew skin
expanding with the air pressure
driving your dive,
then through and past
even the body
past the signs,
the meaning making,
words, the letters, the needs
that produce speech, past
the needs, past the patterns,
repetitions, the feelings,
the instinct to survive,
craving to die,
the emptiness,
separation,
Past the objects.
