—advice to my son, the artist
Born into this Ladder Game
—an upper downer Race
you're mind confined to
think in line
beginning, middle, end —
But now the clown is honking
and pointing to a toy
Reality is spinning
round and round upon a coil
Baby, though The Laddermen
mugged you in the cradle
just hold your mind
in slinky-time
re turn your self
refuse to climb.
We're talking about your mind shape baby
Try to grasp return —
See yourself curving round it
never strait, up or down it
RE turning on the slinky trail
covering old ground
but always bending, changing, slipping
pace away, a different light
a simple bend of thinking.
Clown falls down and beeps his nose
pops back up, presents the daisy
falls again and grabs you baby.
Want to alter space and time?
Dive off the ladder
Get out of line
Change your mind
Trust me
